Here are some examples of the work I’ve done in both journalism and copywriting. If you’re looking for something specific you don’t see here, just ask – I probably have some more relevant samples to share!

Articles – I’ve written many articles under my own name, and even more functioning as a ghostwriter to express executives’ ideas clearly and persuasively. I’ve written dozens of articles on career-oriented topics like startups, micromanagers, negotiating a raise, eating healthy at work and workplace distractions that have appeared in newspapers nationwide.

I’ve also freelanced for publications such as Path to Purchase IQ and Systems Contractor News. And I’ve written dozens of articles on topics ranging from climbing walls to dog parks, aquatic design trends, accessibility, restroom structures and all-ages fitness for Recreation Management magazine.

Web copy – I’ve written web copy for Scotts, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, the Inter-Industry Council for Auto Collision Repair and Spencer Stuart, among other companies. The content on many of these sites continues to evolve, but I can provide samples of my original drafts upon request.

Brochures – I have extensive experience creating brochure copy. Examples include this brochure for the University of Illinois, this one-page brochure for Curves as part of the gym’s outreach to physicians, and this Navigon brochure to enhance the company’s brand awareness in North America.

Print ads – I’ve written print ads across a variety of industries. I drafted this ad for Wal-Mart’s first Chicago store, this ad for Navigon and this one for Bunge.

White papers – I’ve also ghostwritten many longer-form articles incorporating survey data and content from numerous interviews, such as this study on selecting venture-backed leadership, this paper on cloud computing leadership and this study on the C-suite’s migration to Asia.

Annual reports – I edited annual reports at Edelman for CNH and the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, and also wrote this narrative for the  True Value Annual Report. I also edited and wrote portions of numerous corporate governance indexes for Spencer Stuart.

New business proposals – At Edelman, I often proofread and wrote portions of new business proposals. I drafted this executive summary of a new business proposal for Cemusa as the company vied for a public street-furniture contract in Houston.

Corporate fact sheets – I wrote this Owens Corning fact sheet, which sheds light on the surprising impact that the company, known mainly for insulation, has on Americans’ everyday lives.

Newsletters – I’ve written newsletters on a wide variety of topics, from female sexual dysfunction to food-processing technology.

Matte releases – My experience writing matte releases includes these ones for Shell featuring Jay Leno’s mechanic and tuner Paul Ireson. And here’s another matte release about tractors I wrote for CNH.

Press releases – I’ve written countless press releases – including these ones on the Simpsons, purchasing a ski vacation and rewarding good citizenship.
